Cal was NOT in the mood for a photo shoot when I wanted to take these "Callan-tine's Day" pics. I pretended a huge sneeze was coming and then fell over from the enormity of it, camera in hand. Over and over. It cheered him up.

We were sick this week - Cal with a bad cold and me with the flu. We spent lots of time indoors snuggling over board books and wiping our noses. Thanks to last-minute nanny help, I was able to rest and read a long novel I received for Christmas, All the Light We Cannot See, and loved it.

Cal stands by the front door every morning and afternoon, reaching for the knob, eager to get outside and explore.

Cal wakes at 7 every morning, anxious to get out of the crib after 13-14 hours, famished for breakfast. Can't blame him.
For my husband's 40th birthday, I surprised him with a mini family adventure just north of Santa Barbara. We've stayed at most of the fancy hotels in So Cal, plus I wanted to include our toddler as much as possible. And for one night away, camping would be way too much work. So glamping it was! We loved the location and will definitely go back for several nights next time.

This week I'm kicking off my first 52 Project, a portrait of my child once a week, every week, in 2015. My Clickin' Moms workshop group prompted the idea, and the beautiful follow-through of mom-photographer-bloggers like Bleubird and The Stork and the Beanstalk has inspired me.

Always happy to grab his "biya" for naps and bedtime and for the first time today asked for it between naps. I said no and explained that it's for sleeping only. He got over it.
