"A portrait of my child once a week every week in 2015"

Cal was NOT in the mood for a photo shoot when I wanted to take these "Callan-tine's Day" pics. I pretended a huge sneeze was coming and then fell over from the enormity of it, camera in hand. Over and over. It cheered him up.

More from the series. . .

Glamping at El Capitan Canyon

For my husband's 40th birthday, I surprised him with a mini family adventure just north of Santa Barbara. We've stayed at most of the fancy hotels in So Cal, plus I wanted to include our toddler as much as possible. And for one night away, camping would be way too much work. So glamping it was! We loved the location and will definitely go back for several nights next time.

1/52

This week I'm kicking off my first 52 Project, a portrait of my child once a week, every week, in 2015. My Clickin' Moms workshop group prompted the idea, and the beautiful follow-through of mom-photographer-bloggers like Bleubird and The Stork and the Beanstalk has inspired me.

My intentions for this assignment are to:

  1. Keep a consistent mini journal of a year in his life by documenting his personality, development & physical transformation
  2. Become a better photographer by varying shots (composition, perspective, light) and perfecting skin tones
  3. Shoot more!

And my reason for sharing it publicly is simply to seal my commitment.

Always happy to grab his "biya" for naps and bedtime and for the first time today asked for it between naps. I said no and explained that it's for sleeping only. He got over it.
